Dian Chobanov

About

Education:

He earned his master’s degrees at the State Musical Academy in Sofia and at the University of Performing Arts and Music in Vienna in the class of Prof. Uroš Lajović. The personality of the conductor has been influenced by Sir Colin Davies (Dresden), Dresden and Fabio Luisi (Vienna) and Ivan Fisher (Budapest).  In 2021 he was awarded the scientific title of “Doctor” in the field of art.

Awards:

Mo. Tchobanov has been awarded with Second and the Special award of “Lovro von Matačić”, International Conductors Competition Zagreb in 2003. 

Special Prize of Austro-Hungarian conductors competition in Budapest 1998.

Dian Tchobanov becomes Prize “Plovdiv” 2014 – the most prestigious prize in the field of arts in his home city.

Professional career:

Maestro Tchobanov was a resident conductor of the 
Croatia National Opera in Zagreb Croatia
(2009 – 2022)

He was as well a chief conductor of the 
Croatia Chamber Orchestra
(2012 – 2014);

Dian Tchobanov has been first conductor of the 
Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra 
(2004 – 2010)

and a chief conductor of State Opera Stara Zagora 
(2007 – 2012). 

Resident conductor of 
Vienna Schloss Schönbrunn Orchestra 
(2004 – 2012).

Since 2023 he is a guest professor in conducting in Academy of Music, Dance and Visual Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” – Plovdiv Bulgaria and in East China Normal University Shanghai 2010 – 2015.

His repertoire comprehensively covers the genres of symphonic, cantata-oratorio, opera, operetta, ballet and chamber music.
